Home Aide Service
What it is The Illinois Department on Aging supports a network of services throughout the state of Illinois that assists elderly people to continue to live in their homes for as long as possible.
The Community Care Program has four primary services: case management, adult day services, senior companion and Home Aide. The Community Care is governed by laws passed by the Illinois General Assembly (the Legislature) and by regulations written by the Illinois Department on Aging.
The Community Care Program is funded by General Revenue Funds as directed by the legislature and through a waiver of the Federal Medicaid program.All new Home Aides service receive a copy of the Illinois Administrative Code containing the Community Care Program regulations. Providers are responsible for knowing and following, the regulations.
The Illinois Department on Aging conducts training for new providers, using the Community Care Program Provider Training Manual, another valuable resource for program management. Home Aide service is defined in the Illinois Administrative Code as:“General non-medical support by supervised home aides who have received specialized training in the provision of home aide services. The purpose of providing home aide service is to maintain, strengthen and safeguard the functioning of individuals in their own homes in accordance with the authorized plan of care.This means that Home Aides service helps older people continue to live in their own homes, helping them with some of the tasks they can no longer do for themselves.
Home Aides receive special training in helping elderly people. Home Aides are supervised.
