Orthodox Vocation and Ministries Foundation

Telos Gamma

Award Year 2018

In 2016, the Office of Vocation and Ministry at Hellenic College Holy Cross received a $1.5 million dollar grant from the Lilly Endowment to the Telos Project, piloted in 14 parishes across the country. One of the pilot churches is St. George GOC – Chicago. OVM is in the second year of the project designing an educational model that asks small teams at each parish to build relationships with young adults and, using a process of adaptive design, pilot a new ministry for and with them – a pattern believedmirror the best Orthodox missionary ethos.

Building directly on the learning from the Telos Project, and especially from the Telos pilot at St. George, the TelosGamma Project seeks to nurture the spiritual and religious lives of young adults in Chicagoland through CrossRoad alumni and their parishes. To do this, we will reach out to CrossRoad alumni themselves, under the guidance of their parish priests, to lead this effort. By doing so, OVMF hopes to nurture the leadership capacity of the CrossRoad alumni and help them become an effective cohort of leaders on the local level who will have the skills to step into leadership roles in the Church in the future.
