Who We Are
Hellenic Foundation was founded by Father George Mastrantonis, an Orthodox priest of blessed memory, and a group of civic minded and caring community leaders, in 1953. The Foundation was organized as an independent, Illinois not-for-profit corporation, with 501(c)(3) tax exempt status. Its mission was to address the needs of elderly, youth and families of the community.
Although the focus of the Foundation was originally directed to the housing needs of the elderly, its mission and goals have evolved over the years into a multifaceted and dynamic social service organization.
Guided by a volunteer Board of Directors, Hellenic Foundation is addressing the needs of the Greek and Orthodox community of Chicagoland through programs and support of Greek and Orthodox-based social service organizations.
THE HELLENIC FOUNDATION’S MISSION IS TO FUND THE DEVELOPMENT AND SUPPORT OF PROGRAMS AND PROJECTS BENEFITTING THE GREEK AMERICAN AND ORTHODOX CHRISTIAN COMMUNITIES IN THE CHICAGOLAND AREA.
