With growing enthusiasm and momentum, the Hellenic Foundation’s Golden Circle Bus Program has just completed its inaugural year! During that time, parishes from all over the Chicago area rented buses to take their Senior Groups to places far and near. In all, our seniors have traveled over 3,600 miles this past year, enjoying the scenery, singing, laughing, and having great fun! With all those miles, one could travel across the U.S. and start heading back!
Senior groups took bus trips to a variety of locations such as the National Hellenic Museum, Vespers services at churches around our Metropolis, the Holy Transfiguration Monastery, the Philoptochos Lenten Retreat, and others as far as Racine, Wisconsin and St. John, Indiana. We are pleased to announce that our Board of Directors has approved another year of funding for this wonderful program where the Hellenic Foundation will reimburse up to $2,500 per year, per parish for bus travel expenses of Senior Group outings for participating Chicago-area parishes from September 1, 2023 through August 31, 2024.
All Greek Orthodox parishes in the Chicago area have been invited to participate. To be eligible for this program, parishes must return signed Letters of Participation to the Hellenic Foundation prior to taking Bus outings.
The Hellenic Foundation is very excited to continue to offer this program to our Chicago area parishes to promote outings and socialization amongst our Senior Groups.
