Hellenic Foundation Hosts its 2023 Annual Grant Awards at the Hellenic Foundation Offices

On December 14, the Hellenic Foundation hosted its 2023 Annual Grant Awards at the Hellenic Foundation offices located at 6251 W. Touhy Avenue in Chicago, Illinois. The Hellenic Foundation was blessed to host grant recipients, clergy, and its Board of Directors to a reception. Together, attendees watched the video premiere of the “2023 Grant Awards” which can be viewed below.

This year, the Hellenic Foundation awarded grants to 24 Recipients and 29 Grant programs that will impact the Greek and Orthodox communities of the Chicagoland area.  The evening was hosted by the Honorable Anthony C. Kyriakopoulos along with Grant Committee Chairmen Nicholas Geroulis and William P. Vranas.

At the event, Hellenic Foundation Executive Director, Peter E. Valessares announced two new Hellenic Foundation initiatives.  First, the Hellenic Foundation will provide funding for busing of volunteers to assist in the Metropolis of Chicago Project HOPE in delivering over 36,000 meals this next year to Chicago’s Senior Satellite Centers. Present to accept this award include His Eminence Metropolitan Nathanael, Project HOPE Chairperson Yanni Sianis, and Nikki Garbis Proutsos.  Ms. Proutsos, the Assistant Commissioner of the City of Chicago’s Department of Family and Support Services, spoke movingly about this wonderful collaboration.

The second Hellenic Foundation announcement was the newly-established Shelter Impact Program.  Made possible through a generous donation from the Olga Kenniburg Csar Living Trust, the Hellenic Foundation, working hand in hand with the Philoptochos of the Metropolis of Chicago, will provide shelter to women and seniors in critical situations. This project will provide safe housing and allow individuals to build the skills needed to become self-reliant. Diane Alexander White was present on behalf of the Trust to receive a plaque of appreciation from the Hellenic Foundation.

Since 2016, the Hellenic Foundation has awarded more than $2.8 million to worthy organizations and will continue its tradition of funding projects, programs, and organizations that serve the needs of the Greek and Orthodox communities throughout the Chicagoland area.
