SENIOR GROUP OUTINGS FUNDED BY HELLENIC FOUNDATION
Out of the philosophy, that activity breeds longevity, the Golden Circle program was created in 1979 to offer Greek-American seniors in the Chicagoland metropolitan area opportunities to socialize, make new friends, and stay in touch with their community. Golden Circle concluded with the sale of the Hollywood House in 2007. The social needs of the senior population in Chicagoland’s Greek Orthodox churches, past and present, remain the same and especially in the post-pandemic environment.
In 2022, the Hellenic Foundation brought back the Golden Circle program in a new way. This program promotes senior group outings and encourages interactions with the senior citizen groups of the Greek Orthodox parishes outside the participating church’s immediate area.
The Golden Circle Program reimburses up to $2,500 per year per parish for bus travel expenses of Senior Group outings for participating Chicago-area parishes.
