Each year, the Hellenic Foundation awards significant monetary grants to organizations making a positive impact on the Greek and Orthodox communities in the Chicagoland area. On December 12, 2024, the Hellenic Foundation held its 2024 Annual Grant Awards Event awarding grants to 33 recipients and their 43 programs—marking the largest number of grant recipients to date!
Due to the increasing number of grant recipients, the Hellenic Foundation moved the event from their offices on Touhy Avenue in Chicago to the much larger space in the Upper Room at St. Haralambos Greek Orthodox Church, providing the perfect setting for this award celebration. Once again, the Honorable Anthony C. Kyriakopoulos, alongside Grant Committee Chairmen Nicholas Geroulis and William P. Vranas, hosted the event. The Hellenic Foundation Board of Directors extended invitations to grant recipients, clergy, and friends of the Hellenic Foundation for a reception catered by Concorde Banquets and beautifully organized by Manikas Designs. The gathering, which was live-streamed on YouTube for the first time, featured many 2024 Grant Awards videos that highlighted the impact that the Hellenic Foundation’s grants have had on the community. The full program and clips are available for viewing below:
During the event, Hellenic Foundation Executive Director Peter E. Valessares announced a new Initiative Program: the Hearing Loop. The Hellenic Foundation will fund the installation of Hearing Loop systems in churches across the Chicago area. Megan Thunder of Thunder Hearing and Sound demonstrated a temporary Hearing Loop set up in the St. Haralambos event space, allowing attendees to experience the system firsthand. The Hearing Loop is a specialized assistive listening system that directly transmits sound to hearing aids or cochlear implants equipped with Telecoils (T-coils), enhancing accessibility for individuals with hearing impairments. For more information, visit HEARING LOOP | Hellenic Foundation.
Since 2016, the Hellenic Foundation has awarded over $3.4 million to deserving organizations and continues its tradition of funding projects and programs that support the Greek and Orthodox communities throughout the Chicagoland area.
